Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song

The time has finally come for which we have all been waiting. The verdict is in: Naatu Naatu wins Best Original Song at the 2023 Oscars! At the same time, the song made history by becoming the first song from any Indian film to win this prestigious accolade.

With this, the film became the first to win an award for a song from an Indian production. It is the second Indian song to win this prestigious award, following Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire’s win in the same category back in 2009.

NAATU NAATU WINS THE OSCAR

The song faced competition from “Tell It Like a Woman” from Applause, “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and “This is Life” from “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. Following the results, Naatu Naatu won Oscar 2023, outperforming all of the other nominees conclusively. The music director, MM Keeravaani, extended a Namaste in gratitude for the honor.

Only one wish was on my mind, as was Rajamouli’s and our families’… ‘RRR’ must win… Every Indian’s pride… must put me on top of the world, “Keeravani said this while singing Top of the World by The Carpenters from the 1970s.

Craze Of Naatu Naatu At The Oscar

The Naatu Naatu craze has certainly dominated this year’s Oscars. The audience witnessed a spoof performance at the start of the ceremony, when Jimmy Kimmel was driven off stage by dancers performing the Naatu Naatu hook step.

An enthusiastic performance of the song was also seen by the audience. Rahul Sipligunj and Kalaa Bhairava performed live on stage, while Ram Charan and Jr. NTR did not shake a leg, dancers took over the stage and set it ablaze. One of the dancers was Lauren Gottlieb. After the performance, the audience also gave it a standing ovation.

Besides that, other Indian Oscar winners 2023 are the Kartiki Gonsalves-directed Elephant Whisperers, which won Best Documentary Short Film, and the Korean Movie Everything Everywhere All At Once, which won five of its 11 Oscar nominations.

Notably, earlier this month, ‘Naatu Naatu’ won the Golden Globe for best song. Not to mention, RRR became the first Indian movie to receive a Golden Globe. Music director MM Keeravaani is the composer of this brilliant song, which is sung by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. The credit for creating the lyrics goes to Chandrabose.

RRR tells a fictional story set in the 1920s based on the lives of freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgan, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson star in the film, which has an ensemble cast.
