TMC's Kalyan Banerjee’s Anger Burst Out: Suspended for Smashing Water Bottle on Abhijit Gangopadhyay, the BJP MP

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee was deeply criticized for bursting out in anger and smashing glass bottle during a meeting of the panel on Tuesday. This anger outrage and violent conduct during the JPC meeting on Waqf bill led to his one day suspension.

Due to this dramatic situation, the meeting was adjourned out of compulsion. The victim of the heated argument was Abhijit Gangopadhyay, a BJP MP who is a prominent judge and has served the Kolkata High Court in the past.

The entire incident has been strongly condemned by the leaders of various parties who demanded a stronger punishment for violating the parliamentary rules. According to the recent statement by the BJP member Nishikant Dubey, the uttering words that Banerjee has used are not at all acceptable and such behavioural pattern from anyone will not be tolerated in the future.

Kalyan Banerjee accepted that his anger was out of control for a moment and it is expected that he will apologize for this fiery clash with the BJP MP. PTI reported that amidst this unforeseen incident, Mr. Banerjee received injuries on index finger and thumb, and got instant medical assistance.

The delegations from Odisha and senior lawyers from other places give statements that such kind of violence is not a part of democracy, hence, should be avoided in every situation. Lots of other politicians also made accusations against MP Kalyan Banerjee and demanded his immediate resignation.

The opposition party members raised questions on this inappropriate behaviour where Mr. Banerjee was involved in verbal duels.

A few people believe that his primary target was Chairperson while some of them say that when Banerjee was throwing the bottle towards the Chairperson, he hurt his hand. However, Banerjee later clarified that his intention was not to smash the bottle in the chairperson’s direction.

When this incident was over, AAP leader Sanjay Singh and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi accompanied him back to the meeting room.
For this unruly behaviour, violence, and anger burst out, Banerjee was suspended from the panel, not for long, but for one day.
