Chandigarh metro project update has raised by an officer who attended the recent meeting. The project, however, will begin in new Chandigarh and end in Panchkula extension in sector 20. The Punjab and Haryana governments made the decision. Hence, these were the parts of the second phase. Metro Project In Chandigarh
Metro in Tricity includes a total stretch of 35 kilometers in Chandigarh, 11 km in Panchkula, and 31 km in Mohali and New Chandigarh. In the first phase, which will get developed between 2027 and 2037, three routes have proposed. The three routes are as follows: Parol Sarangpur ISBT Panchkula extension (29 km), Rock Garden to ISBT Zirakpur via industrial area and Chandigarh airport, and starting from grain market chowk sector 39 to Transport chowk sector 26 (13KM).
However, in the second phase, the Metro in Chandigarh will get developed after 2037. In fact, a metro line from airport chowk to Manakpur Kallar (5 km) and from ISBT Zirakpur to Pinjore has also proposed.
Project Cost
The Metro in Tricity will mostly run overhand knots, so it’s decided that the Rail India technical and economic service agency will create the detailed project report and annual analysis report for the project. However, the project will cost Rs. 6.54 crore to complete. As a result, both reports will get completed by March of the following year, 2024. Furthermore, the states have agreed to pay 20% of the funding. Not to mention, the center contributed 20% and the lending agency contributed 60%. Therefore, the total cost of the metro project is around 10,500 crore.
