Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Sunday informed about Air India starting additional direct flights between Amritsar to London and another one to Birmingham. The Rajya Sabha MP also said that he was constantly roping in for international air connectivity over the last two parliamentary sessions. The sole purpose behind this was to make it easier for people to fly to India from these two international destinations.
“Good news, Punjabis. Air India has started additional Direct Flight From Amritsar to London and one to Birmingham. I’ve tried to consistently raise Punjab’s demand for international air connectivity over the last two parliamentary sessions. Will work to improve connectivity further,” Chadha said in a tweet.
Mr. Chadha raised the issue in the winter session of the Parliament on the 19th of December last year. In August 2022, the AAP MP from Punjab raised the same issue as an unstarred question in front of the Minister of Civil Aviation. In his question, he enquired about the details regarding the new international flight operations from the Mohali and Amritsar airports in the past five years.

At the same time, Chadha also asked for the reasons why these flights were not added in spite of the fact that so many people travel between these particular destinations quite frequently.
