After a great deal of debate about who would and wouldn’t go to the 68th Filmfare Awards 2023, the ceremony concluded on Thursday night in Mumbai, with the winners proudly holding the black lady (the trophy).
Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Rekha, Janhvi Kapoor, Nora Fatehi, Vicky Kaushal, and other celebrities walked the red carpet to kick off the glamorous evening. Along with Ayushmann Khurrana and Maniesh Paul, Salman Khan served as the event’s host. In fact, the starry night’s main attraction was a series of electrifying dance performances by Vicky Kaushal, Tiger Shroff, Janhvi Kapoor, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The Jio World Convention Center in BKC, Mumbai, hosted the awards ceremony.

The coveted Best Actress (female) award went to Alia Bhatt, and the Best Film award went to her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi. Besides that, Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the Best Director award, completing the sweep. In contrast, Badhaai Do, a social comedy-drama starring Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao, and Sheeba Chaddha, was also named the Best Film (critics’ choice).
Kartik Aaryan did not receive a prize for his hugely popular Anees Bazmee film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, but Tabu won Best Actress (critics’ choice). It came as a pleasant surprise to know that Sanjay Mishra had won Best Actor (Critics’ Choice) for his critically acclaimed film Vadh, in which he co-starred with Neena Gupta.
Brahmastra was a huge box office success, but it didn’t win any major awards. It did, however, win the award for best music album. Amitabh Bhattacharya and Arijit Singh also won awards for the film’s well-known song “Kesariya” for best lyrics and best male playback singer, respectively.
Moreover, Ankush Gedam won the best debut actor (male) award at the awards ceremony. At the same time, Andrea Kevichüsa won the best debut actor (female) award for her work in Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund. Not to mention, at the Filmfare Awards 2023, seasoned actor Prem Chopra received the lifetime achievement honor.
