Prithvi Shaw attacked in Mumbai

Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw attacked in Mumbai but escaped unharmed. There are a total of eight people accused of attacking the 23-year-old while he was inside a friend’s car.

What exactly took place?

According to reports, the attackers denied permission to take a “selfie” with the Delhi Capitals opener. After that, the attackers began pelting stones at Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s car after he refused to take a selfie. The Mumbai Police have charged eight people in connection with the incident.

The accused also pursued Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s vehicle. Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur identified as two of the eight accused. According to the complainant, Shaw had gone to a five-star hotel in Santacruz with his friends for dinner when a group of unidentified individuals approached their table and insisted on taking a selfie.

The cricketer obliged two people with selfies, but after some time the same group came back and demanded more selfies. This time, Shaw objected. When they persisted in taking selfies, Prithvi’s friend complained to the hotel manager. Following this, the manager of the hotel asked the suspects to leave.

When Shaw and his companion got back from dinner, the accused were waiting outside the hotel, and they attacked them with baseball bats and broke the front and back windows of their car.

Shaw was consequently moved to a different car. A lady approached the Shaw friend’s car near Jogeshwari’s Lotus petrol pump and began abusing them. The complainant went on to say that the woman demanded Rs 50,000, otherwise she would fabricate a claim.

Following this incident, the complainant went to Oshiwara Police Station and filed a case, which was then registered by the police. The police have stated that they are investigating the incident. Officials said that a case filed against eight people under sections 384, 143, 148, 149, 427, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code after Prithvi Shaw attack in Mumbai.

Previous Controversy

Shaw is not a regular member of the Indian cricket team, but he is one of the country’s most popular athletes. In 2013, people compared him to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Shaw etched his name in history when he broke Tendulkar’s record with a 546-run knock in a Harris Shield match in 2013.

This is not the first time Shaw has been at the center of a controversy. Recently, Shaw’s Instagram account posted a photo with actress Nidhi Tapadia referring to her as his wife. Within a short period of time, Shaw removed the image, explaining that someone had edited it and requesting that people not believe it.
